Control Of Error
In the Montessori Environment the
child is in a position to work independently with all the apparatus. Every apparatus has
an inbuilt Control of Error which means that if a child is working with Cylinder Blocks , as explained to him as and when he takes the
presentation, is that all the cylinders should fit in their respective sockets properly.
If a child goes wrong somewhere, then some cylinders might not fit in the sockets or
left aside. This means that he has made a mistake and the child sees this visually and
thus is able to correct this on his own, which in turn makes him more
confident.
The desire of the child to attain an
end which he knows leads him to correct himself. It is not a teacher who makes him
notice his mistake and shows him how to correct it but it is a complex work of the child's
own intelligence which leads him to such a result. In Sensorial apparatus the
"Control Of Error" lies in the material itself, and the child has concrete
evidence of it.
